Leading UK Local Authority Trading Company Norse Group has extended its portfolio with two new partnerships.

Amber Valley Borough Council in Derbyshire, and Uttlesford District Council in Saffron Walden, have both agreed 10-year partnerships with Norse Group, in the form of new joint venture companies.

The £40m deal with Amber Valley covers residential and commercial waste collection and recycling, whilst the £50m agreement with Uttlesford provides a range of property maintenance services covering the Borough Council’s housing stock and civic buildings.

Norse Group Director Geoff Tucker said; “We are delighted to be working with Amber Valley and Uttlesford councils in providing key services to their communities. These two new partnerships will allow Norse Group to bring its commercial approach to local authority services, helping them address the challenges thrown up by Covid-19, drive down costs and develop revenue streams.”

Norse Group is wholly owned by Norfolk County Council. The company has been trading for over thirty years, and now operates 30 local authority partnerships across the UK, providing employment for more than ten thousand staff. The Group’s unique partnership model is based on Council co-ownership and profit share, delivering value for money and retaining the public service ethos.
