Lord Porter CBE joins Norse Group Board

Lord Gary Porter of Spalding CBE has joined Norse Group board as a non-executive director.

He is the current LGA Conservative Group national lead peer, a trustee of the Leadership Centre and a member of the APSE 2030 Commission, having become a member of the House of Lords in November 2015.

Gary has extensive experience in the workings of local government. He was first elected to South Holland District Council in a by-election in June 2001, was re-elected in the 2003 elections and elected as Leader of South Holland at the Council’s AGM of that year.

In 2010, Gary became the LGA Conservative Group Leader, and in June 2011 the Vice-Chairman of the LGA. He held both these positions until he became the LGA Chairman in June 2014. He was also the Conservative Councillors Association (CCA) Chairman from 2013 until 2016.

Talking about his new role with Norse Group Lord Porter said; “It was a real honour to be approached to become a non-exec Director of Norse. I believe that as the largest latco in the country they are well placed to be at the forefront of service delivery across the country”.
