Investment in new hi-tech gritting vehicles
The Norse Highways teams are behind the wheel of seven new high-tech gritting vehicles which are helping keep Norfolk’s roads safe.
Norse Highways crews are all geared up and available every day throughout the long winter period, ready to grit the 49 routes that cover more than 2,200 miles across Norfolk.
Jason Glasspoole, Operations Director at Norse Highways, said investment in technology was vital to drive service improvements and efficiency. “The new technology is more efficient at salt distribution. You get almost instant results and adjustments in the amount of salt being dispensed on to the road and the area of coverage,” he said.
“All of which increases operating efficiency.” Cllr Martin Wilby, Cabinet Member for Highways and Infrastructure, said: “These new gritters will have a long road ahead of them as Norse Highways teams do their vital job to keep people safe as the colder weather sets in throughout the winter.”
